For recruiters, talent experts. How do you people react when candidate ask you about their status of job process? Plz suggest how should they followup

Recruiters have to be friendly and courteous to the candidates and try to give them the actual status of the job application. Sometimes the there may not be much traction on the requirement or the requirement might have gone on Hold, due to various reasons. Recruiter has to convey this in a Diplomatic manner to the candidate at the same time, do not reveal the reason if it does't improve the image of the company. 

Candidates can ask the recruiter, the best time of the day to call and follow up on the status or can send an email and then call the recruiter to get the status. Persistent calls might annoy the recruiter, who is on target pressure for on boarding multiple candidates  within a short time frame.
