I am considering a career in talent management. Which degree would make me more marketable in this field?

Do talent managers make a decent living or is the field saturated?

Hi Aya,

From your profile, I can see you have a Bachelor's degree in English Language & Literature (which is definitely a strong point in your profile. And as you already have a master's degree,  I would suggest you professional qualifications like

1. CIPD (http://www.cipd.co.uk/)

2. SPHR (https://www.hrci.org/our-programs/our-hr-certifications/sphr)

is definitely an advantage to rise in this profession.

However, on a later stage you may pursue an MBA - Human Resources that can boost up you to reach the leadership positions, but this is not mandatory. I believe that passion matters more than degrees. If you have the true passion, nothing can stop you. HR has evolved from Personnel or Labour Management to Strategic Talent Management and there is a scope for highly motivated and passionate individual who understand the business as well as the thoughts of human beings.

Since HR is transforming with automation and digitization already, additional certifications or knowledge on various HRIS applications, SAP or Oracle HR modules etc... will become an asset.

PS: I am in UAE presently on a visit visa, that would expire by the end of this month. Kindly contact me if you have any suitable vacancy for me. suhailazeez(at)hotmail(dot)com or

The answer is very informative. Just want to add you need to have a talent for talent retention. When an old hand wants to resign because of better options you should be able to convince him /her to stay back as the future is not that bleak here. U should also be able to convince the higher management that the cost of retaining talent is inexpensive compared to the cost of recruiting and training new human resources. Also the new resources would not be as productive from day1 during their OJT .

I would say that a degree in Business Administration or HR, should be very helpful in such career !

Thank you very much dear Aya Ahmad  for the invitation

Must hold bachelor's degrees in a field such as marketing or management, though there isn't a standard education level required for this job

But you also must have good experience in how to manage talented candidates by collecting good information related to each domain or field you are going to deal with.
