How can NGO's and nonprofit organizations overcome the challenge of funding projects annually?

There are several approaches to resolving this problem:

1. Build a sustainability component into the project. In other words, find or create a way for the project to pay for itself. For example, subscriptions, sale of goods or services, solicitation of contributions by those who have benefited from the project, etc.

2. If sustainability is not an option, then consider project milestones that can be measured and reported. Donors are more likely to donate again and bring in other donors if they can see the results of the support they have previously given the project.

3. Endowment- cultivate one or more major donations that can be invested and the proceeds of that investment used to fund the project in perpetuity.

All projects should be defined, or redefined, with one or more of these as part of the project life cycle.
