What is Intellectual Property? How can individuals protect it?

An invention or creation of a thing by the application of human intellectual or brain is a intellectual property. It is an intangible asset.

It can be protected by applying for patent or registering it  in appropriate authoritative offices. It can be protected also through court of law if there is any infringement of the rights of the owner of the intellectual property....etc. My2 cents. Thanks.
