Moment transfers to concrete base structure
Requires strong concrete element to resist moment induced cracks
Expensive
Time consuming
I already tried to make a fixed supported steel on concrete structure and the following are the results:
1. the steel is section is lighter, however
2. the number of bolts are greater
3. the baseplate is thicker
4. the analysis of the concrete itself always fails in terms of bolt pull out, edge distance of the bolts must be great(minimum edge distance will not work all the time) even with densed reinforcement around the bolts.
