Facility Management has to do more with the technical aspect of managing a property, while property management deals also with leases, treasury management as well as legal aspects. A property manager would have a broader scope of work than a facility manager, and would have to draft and renew lease contracts, and therefore would typically know all tenants personally. In short, facility management is part of property management, while the opposite is not correct.
There are many terms reflect Facility Management such as Building Management, Property Management, Real Estate Management, Asset Management, etc...
However Facility Management is general term and it contains multi functions such as: Property Management, Real Estate Management (from a trading perspective), Operations and Maintenance, Technology, Business Continuity and Emergency Management, Finance and Business, Project Management, Quality, HR, Security, Hospitality, etc...
According to me this is so simple as ,,
property management mean care of building for the sake of owner,( maintenance or rent collecting )
facility management mean care of building for the sake of people living in (safety+maintenance + security +providing facility )
Facility Management works for the people who uses the property and Property Management works for who owns the property.
Facility Management is a broader terms which includes building maintenance, facilities operation, relationship management and financial overview.
Property Management is somewhat similar as above depending upon the size of the facility, but also includes renting out and rent collection on behalf of building owner.
