Yes of course. An automation may it be implemented on small or big systems, it will always reduce the effort of one individual towards a certain task hence, sooner or later will decrease employment. However, I believe automation may not always lead to unemployment. Automation produces high quality of results on a small amount time and because of this, the business could have the opportunity to grow and expand which allows them to employ more people though it may take some time to increase employment.

It has effect of "face-lifting" the overall way the work is accomplished and causes increase in the efficiency. If we look it other way round, automation just cuts down small portion from the original work-content and adds a whole new options and opportunities. These opportunities have the scope for "out-sourcing".
In summary automation tries to break up the monopoly and tries to distribute the processes with the view that some of the processes could be easily outsourced or treated separately.

automation is for helping people in doing stuff better and keep them safe in case there are saftey issue or extreme condition from heat etc..

Yes, automation can affects manpower but human availability is very important especially when they were trained and have abilities to run the job, robots can change humans especially in common work but for complicated work which needs highly developed manpower we can not decrease human.
On the face of it, automation may decrease the employment in the world. But at the same time it is pushing/motivating mankind to transform the skill sets/qualifications and approach towards life. My two cents.
You can say that it is decreasing employment and also bringing new challenges each and everyday! Those who really have the skills and qualification can certainly establish a firm instead of doing jobs for others!
