The project is under close-out and the next expansion project of the same type expected to receive after 4 months. Will you release staff or keep?

Please suggest what you will do if you are a PM considering the Cost-saving, and expert team requirements for the upcoming project?

I will release the people and upon receiving the expansion project, i will assign depending on the baseline program. As the expansion project is not yet confirmed and there is no surety that project will be awarded to same contractor.

There are chances that the owner will find another contractor with better commercial terms.

Keeping the manpower for expected job is Cost to the project and project will be in less profit or may incur losses due to excess manpower.

Employ the manpower when in need.

I'll do a feasibility study for that. I will consider that as a project by itself and I'll add the cost of that to the budget of the expansion project . on the other side, there will be always a snag list that is to be done by the end of the project which will take time after the project closure where you will benefit from the team you have for some time which will decrease the free time from4 months to the half (approximate). moreover, you can start giving tasks to the team and make him finish tasks that is not related to a specific time frame.

I would release or lend the staff to other internal project requirements where there is in need of resources for the time being, thereby the resource is utilized in a optimal way.
