If words were muted, the body language will tell you everything sales man  need to know about the person and their intentions.This is why kids are so skilled at psychology - they do not always understand all the words but they do understand the attitude and the body language of a person.With respect to the appearance, it's a choice on how to manifest one's internal world, and it can be merely observed, and judged, and thus an opinion is born.

here is a book on body language that i recommend to every sales person "what every body is saying". This book will help you identify the different non verbal communications that you and those around you give off. It shows you how you and others naturally communicate using your bodies and what it means. There is also a chapter on Lie Detection. Joe Navarro focuses on different parts of your body and what each behavior means.

Not only for the sales person, body language is very important for all people who are communicating. According to a research non verbal communication is-% of what you are saying. So people are believing to your mimics and gestures more than what you are saying. That's why body language is so significant for sales person. Gestures shall be non agressive and more attractive to attract attention of customer and mimics shall be soft and reliable. A sales person should not try to sell a product but just convince the customer to buy it. And body language is one of the most important way to provide this.
