It creats a selection set based on a selected object
SSX is a powerful selection routine available in AutoCAD, but not LT. This ancient command line routine allows you to find objects based on certain properties. It builds a selection set, and then you issue the command (Erase, Move, Copy, etc.) and type P for Previous to bring back that selection set found by SSX.
For example :-
-> Create a block named "A" and make3 copies
-> Apply red color (index color number =1) for block copy1,2 &4
-> Apply any other color for block copy3
-> Type SSX enter
-> Select block copy1 when prompt (to add "block A" to the selection set)
-> select option color and, input color number1 (for red)-> Press enter twice
Now we have added all copies of Block A with the color red to the selection set
Let's try how it works
-> Type Move, Rotate, Erase, Copy or any command in which we can select objects
-> Type P to use our SSX selection set
I hope this will help you.
SSX creates a selection set that contains objects that are either exactly like the selected "template" object or, if you adjust the filter list, very similar to that object. You can enter SSX either at the Command prompt to create a selection set, which can be accessed with the Previous option, or you can enter (SSX) in at any Select Objects prompt.
SSX command serves primarily to filter a selection set based on object properties.

Command: SSX
Select object/<None>: Use an object selection method to select a template object, or press Enter for none.
>>Block name/Color/Entity/Flag/LAyer/LType/Pick/Style/Thickness/Vector:
Note: Once you specify a filter list, you can remove any of the filters by selecting the option keyword and then pressing Enter. If an item exists in the filter list and you choose to add a new item, the old value is overwritten by the new value. You can have only one of each type of item in a single (ssget 'x') call.
Is a filtering command and applies to the selection sets.
To use it you must load it with the Load command and then you response on the <select :> command with <(ssx)> to pass the control to this function.
You can apply it as many times you want to make UNION selections.
It allows you to select similar entities to the one entity you specify. So lets say you want to select all LINE entities on the very standards-compliant layer named “BOB”. All you’d have to do is type SSX followed by ENTER. Then, select a LINE entity that is on the layer you want (in this case, the “BOB” layer…), and AutoCAD® will add all relevant entities to the active selection set. Then, just manipulate the entities the way you want (such as forming the word “UNCLE”), and well, Bob’s your uncle.
