What is the difference between piping and pipeline ?

pipeline: a long pipe, for conveying oil or gas, over long distances.

piping: a network of pipes

and

pipiline will be above 2000km &piping is within plant

• Pipeline - Long series of Pipes usually of large diameter often underground with few fittings & equipment's mostly Pumps & Valves mainly to control the flow that are laid with an intention to transport any fluid whether liquid or gas over long distances.
• Piping - Large series & networks of Pipes within the well defined boundaries of the plant/plot with all fittings & equipment's like Pump* Valves Unions & other Miscellaneous items with an intention to transfer fluid from one facility to another within those boundaries as required.

Piping is related to a system that is inside a plant or short distance piping.

a pipeline is for long remote piping.

Pipeline means transportation of hydrocarbon in liquid or gas state for a long distance while piping is done in a boundary or plant.

PIPING IS SMALL SCALE ALTHOUGH PIPELINE IS FULL SEGMENT OF TRANSMISION PROBABLY 

The segment of interconnected metallic or non metallic tubulars (Rigid or Flexible) between the two extreme ends of the piping at Boundary limit of a Plants &/or Platforms is simply called a Pipeline.

As per Industry Codes and Standards there is no limitations on the length of a Pipeline or a Piping. I myself had desigend a sub sea Water Injection Pipeline of 500 meters only.

* Piping is the whole system includes pumps, storage tanks inlet and outlet pipes, pumps inlet and outlet pipes and the pipeline itself .

* Pipeline is the main trunk line which begin with launcher trap and ends with recieving trap.
