Always treat yourself like an honor student, You Know What You Know" and "You Know What You Do Not Know" you have to be observance in all situation happening around you, for how your boss manage his/her team always look and find the best people who you think that you can copy or get an idea how they handle and manage the situation around them and I think that you can easily get not only skills but also knowledge..

 

 

If you know someone who has good soft skills, start by observing their body language, their tonality of voice, the way they speak etc. This should be a good start to develop excellent soft skills. The rest is practice and pushing out of the comfort zone. Making conversations with people with different expertise or field than yours helps in two ways. First being you are pushed to think in a different way than you usually do and secondly improve your vocabulary in different fields. Once you have this in your tool set, it becomes easier to have a good EQ with people you meet later and develops leadership skills.Something i personally do is at every event i attend, i try to speak to at least 3-4 people and if possible try to meet the keynote speaker or special guest etc.
