With women proving their strength and determination in the professional than ever before in spite of raising successful families and taking career breaks if needed, employers still find it reluctant to move out of the conservative patterns of hiring leaving many qualified mothers unemployed. What can be done to give these mothers a chance to prove their competencies?
I think that in most developed countries where women have equal rights and are treated as equal to men on the intellectual level, the workforce is continuously embracing the integration of women into the business world on increasingly higher scales. With all the recent studies on the importance of EQ and the the sought after multi-tasker (which women excel at naturally) I believe that the woman's presence in the workforce will be not only more appreciated but also equally in demand as their male counterpart.
As far as the reluctance to hire a woman who has recently taken off time to raise a family, society will eventually recognize her improved skill set acquired during the running of a family which is as demanding as the position of a well versed CEO of an organization--they have studies to prove this :)
Agree with Mr. Md. Fazlur Rahman in his answer, gender balance is the slogan for UN and most NGOs, I personally believe in gender balance for employment.
Many thanks for your thoughtful question. The society in Middle East and South Asia is still male dominated. In addition, there is acute shortage of awareness program in the Society that women are equally good in office work. However, the change is in the offing. It has been proved in South Asia that women could be very good entrepreneur; they utilize the Bank loan judiciously and return the loan on time- and always performed better than man.
A lot of International Organizations have already made a dent in the traditional belief and has brought Gender balance ration to almost “:” in theirs offices. (UN, World Bank, Asian Dev. Bank). With support from International Agencies, situation has been greatly improved in India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam.
To bring such a change in the attitude in male dominated society, a political commitment from the head of the State and Parliament is necessary. Employment opportunity shall kept open on the basis of qualification and merit, without any sex discrimination.
I also believe that there should no bar for extended maternity leave or even to join in service in another organization after “4/5” years of break in service.
Women always just rely on emotion , without the matrix calculation puts human resources , capital , machinery , management . All must be positioned as the company's assets in the production process to generate maximum profits as the end of the mission and the mission of the company , owner satisfaction , stakeholders , all employees of all line departments, suppliers , consumers .
In addition to the answers I would like to add that it is not always the case in developed countries such USA, Canada, Switzerland ...etc
Reasons behind such preference of male of female could be because of:
1. Cultural factors
2. Some political regulations
3. Other Beliefs
Thank You
women no longer need to prove anything, it's already done, however mental strength and stamina do not always go together, especially for women, pregnancy and then education are very, very tiring for her, those who are depriving the family one of the most noble of sacrifices, will suffer from a delay, which employers (often other women) can not understand or tolerate. therefore employers refuse their reinstatement.
but I also noticed that the woman who priveleges her job goes further and faster than some men.
in Arab and Islamic societies, it is preferable to spare them certain posts mentally and physically tiring (with a lot of travel for example).
In Algeria, they have maternity leave of 90 days and in return they blessed two hours for 2 or 3 months to take care of their children.
It is also important to remind and draw your attention to the fact that: at the beginning of women's independence, the demand on infant milk has increased, women who work much less breastfeeding, on 5 decines of diseases have progress, this phenomenon is the same among third world women and developing countries (China and North Africa), while the same demand is decreasing in the West.
sorry my english is in progross.
