Hello Team,
The Preservation Salvage Store was established in 2007 in order help preserve the historic architecture and identity of New Orleans. Materials from houses that have been deconstructed are donated to the store and resold at a reduced and affordable price to the community. Through the efforts of the salvage store, countless architectural features have been recycled into the historic housing stock of New Orleans, thus preserving our important cultural heritage.
Among the rows and rows of items, it's possible to find windows, doors, columns, brackets and wrought iron railing, among many other treasures.
In addition, the salvage store plays an important role in the "greening" of New Orleans. Saved from the landfill, these items offer an environmentally sound option for rebuilding and revitalizing local homes. Rather than building new, the salvage store promotes reinvestment in the city's current housing stock. The greenest building is the one already built!
Proceeds from items sold in the Preservation Salvage Store support Rebuilding Together New Orleans, Operation Comeback, and the other programs of the Preservation Resource Center.
Regards,
Saiyid

There are several types of salvage stores, the main two are, house hold goods,eg electrical, fittings, lights, old phones,furniture,etc.. the other is building materials ,timber, windows, doors, roofing, bricks, etc.
another is vehicle salvage, cars trucks, boats etc. Which one are you interested in?? If it's house hold or building materials,on most demolishing sites, you could see the contractor to remove goods, and probably get them for free,or make a offer of a few food and orangejuice,or shout morning tea. The other way would be to find out what buildings are going to be pulled down and get in first.
You would only need a few hand tools to start with, screw drivers, hammer, flat bar, wrecking bar, nail puller,we call them dog bars, nail punch, hacksaw or reciprocating saw about6 pound hammer and crow bar.
Plus you will need some way to remove your goods, and a place to store it. Then you will need to set up a business with name, and register it with you as sole trader or as a Ltd company
Keeping all your costs, sales, wages etc
