The Internet is a lean forward research tool used best to peel back layers of information before making an informed purchase. Branding on TV with sight sound an motion will keep a brand top of mind. But it won’t really matter if its not a right fit. The first thing that either patients or doctors do when exposed to a new pharma TV ad is to check it out online. Do you want to know what will be the biggest innovation in the future—tapping the Internet as more than a pharma marketing research tool. The company that figures out to convert the Internet to a transactional sales channel is the company that will lead this industry for decades. It will take a lot of work—far deeper than merely technological work. But someone will do it…and change the industry of pharma marketing for ever.
There is certainly some section of clinicians who are savvy and are prescribing medicines from e-commerce sites.But it will not replace personal & professional selling in future also just for the reason that what a sales person can demonstrate in Dr's chamber same demonstration he/she will not get through electronic medium.Sharing of scientific knowledge,comparative Data,third party references and medical updates a Dr. gets only through live demonstration in chamber by a Professional Service Rep only.
However I definitely see Innovation in Pharma selling Personal selling is Augmented with e-selling Detailing folders have been replaced by lappies and tabs and medical customers & Doctors are getting scientific data online

i really have a different mindset in the topic of pharma sales and marketing nowadays, where i believe that pharma companies should change the current practice from customer-centric to patient-centric approaches, it should change the goal itself from marketing products to taking sincere initiatives in order to improve patients access to their medications, hence there will be no need for pharma sales and marketing functions in the near future (i hope so) but access projects and transparent medical information sharing for the best interest of patients and society
As for the pharma Marketing. Many pharma companies do offline marketing like their sales person visit Doctors and demonstrate about their new product. Many doctors do not have much time to surf the web to search or check what is new or not unless the doctor is addicted to the internet. Pharma sales can be increased in future if the doctors are updated with the latest technology. If a doctor does not bother giving time to new technology pharma marketing will stay offline forever. I do search about health problems (you can also by searching google) many Doctor's give time and build relationships with their patients and provide free and paid help on Discussion Forums. These types of Doctors have knowledge about new pharma products and can be targetted for online advertising on many platforms.
