This is a very nice question in the sense the activities are quite interrelated. In general, the responsibilities are as follows:
Manpower planning requirements:
1. Develop detail office work plan for one year and next five years.
2. Develop detail activities to support the office work plan
3. Now, develop “Job description” of the personnel who will perform the activities
4. Finally, develop “Job specifications” or the type of manpower needed (specify education, skill and experience only)
5. Now go for recruitment from internal as well as external sources
Materials and Supply Planning
1. Forecast aggregate demand for goods and services to be procured.
2. Make an estimate of raw materials required to supply the goods for one year
3. Make a production schedule based on quarterly or monthly aggregate demand
4. Based on production schedule, prepare a materials requirement schedule
5. Send the material requirement schedule to procurement department for procurement
Vendor Interaction (or vendor contact):
1. Based on materials requirement, please make a market research for the raw materials/goods to be procured, their market price and the list of suppliers in the trade.
2. Please visit trade fairs to know the product characteristics, their market prices and the related suppliers
3. Please check the trade directory and visit trade association’s office to get the names of additional suppliers.
4. Now, prequalify the suppliers to confirm that they have ability and also willing to supply the goods.
5. Now, you can invite bids to get suppliers offer
