My advice to people writing a CV for sales executives is always to toot your own horn – after all, if you don’t, no else will. But this advice applies even more for sales professionals. After all, selling is what you do. Your CV for sales executives should showcase your confidence and sales abilities – in other words, you need to brag shamelessly!

Here are 5 ways you can demonstrate that confidence to potential employers when writing your CV for sales executives.

CV for sales executives tip #1 - Put your Best Stuff Upfront

Highlight sales achievements right up front in your CV for sales executives introduction.  Choose the best 3 or 4 results and put them in a prominent place where they won’t be missed. This will ensure that the employer sees your sales success before getting to the career history section of your a CV for sales executives. You will immediately make a positive impression.

This is even more important if you’re looking to change industries – great sales results can go a long way towards easing fears about your ability to make a change.

CV for sales executives tip #2 - Pack Your CV for sales executives With Results

When you do get to your career chronology, make sure that the entire section is packed with results. Spend very little time on your job responsibilities – everyone knows what a salesperson or sales manager does. Instead focus on what you achieved. Show things like:

Sales increases

Market share growth

Sales rankings within your company (or industry if you know)

Client base growth

New accounts signed

Awards received

CV for sales executives tip #3 - Highlight Awards

The last point about awards should be emphasized. If you have won awards or honors for your sales performance, make sure those are highlighted prominently. If you have lots of them, you may even want to list them right upfront in your CV for sales executives introduction.

Awards are proof positive of your skills and talents. Make the most of them!

CV for sales executives tip #4 - Include Training & Certifications

List training or sales certifications. Many companies want their sales people to know a certain sales approach and others want to invest in developing their staff. If you already have the training, that can make you very appealing over another candidate who will need to learn.

CV for sales executives tip #5 – Know Your Audience

You would never try to sell a product without knowing your target audience and the same applies to your CV for sales executives.

Figure out who will be reading your CV for sales executives and what their concerns are. Are you interested in smaller companies? Then you may want to show you can compete successfully with bigger corporations, or open new markets.  If you’re a manager or executive targeting smaller companies, you’ll want to show that you’re not just someone who directs events from 30,000 feet but that you also roll up your sleeves and do the work.

In larger companies, the opposite will apply. Have you managed large budgets? Big sales teams? Led major product launches? Worked on international sales?

Perhaps you’re targeting companies in a certain industry. In this case, you’ll want to show knowledge of that field or at least transferable skills.

So before you start writing, make some notes on your target companies and what they’re looking for. (Not sure? Check out job postings online for clues).

The best CV for sales executives convey absolute confidence that the candidate can meet the needs of employers. By using these 5 strategies, you can make sure that yours is one of them!

No doubt that the CV submission process has become a crucial to making you stand out when applying for high-level executive positions.  First thing to remember is that the CV is not the only means to showcase your credentials and your past successes, but is important to articulating your personal brand. At an executive level the CV should convey you as a serious business proposition so that you can cut through the pack and be seen.

You need primarily  to consider the following points :

1.Add extra value to the next company you are targeting.

2. Add what differentiates you in terms of your approach and ethos.

3.When it comes to the senior management team structure, how can you dovetail into the next position. These answers, if communicated originally enough, will enable strengthen your pitch.

4. It’s vital to articulate your current skill set. e.g. you need to show the reader exactly how your unique management style can be deployed to deliver in your executive role with authority and precision, augmented by any specialist industry insight.

5. Your CV should pitch you heavily in the present tense in terms of your brand, with past achievements being consolidated in a more streamlined and succinct way to simply back this up with quantifiable proof. This is largely an exercise in reinterpreting your career history into a more modern, tighter selling tool.

According to the CV Experts specialize in executive and director level CV writing services, The top tips are:

First: when creating your career section, my advice is to focus on desired outcomes as much as possible. People often think achievements are best measured on a CV by figures, and although they look good by breaking up the reams of text, they can look superficial.

Second: Try to go for meaty, original achievements  e.g. if you were instrumental in devising and piloting a new sales initiative for your firm which proved such a success it was rolled out nationally, then expand on it.

Third:  Try to add as much detail as possible on the circumstances of your achievements too.

Fourth: It’s vital that you’re pitching yourself at the right level – in some companies there is a gulf between the remit and responsibilities of a middle and senior manager. It you want to pitch up a level, use your professional profile and skills section to embellish your potential.

On sum, a management CV is so much more than a record of information now. It should be a compelling profile of both you and your offer or a purposeful sales document to eclipse others in the pile. There are many senior executive careers available and the first step is all about getting your CV right, do this well and you will land yourself many executive job opportunities. So, are you ready to find a new job today. It's time to use our Upload tools to import your CV and go get that job!
