The Brand's selection is done according to Place of installation. If the PLC system to be installed in open air then siemens is the best and the reason is high temperature bearing capability. Allan bradley is the one of the best brand. Allan Braley is very user friendly. If the system is to be installed in Control room then Allan Bradley is one of the best choice. Selection can also be done based on cost siemens is cheaper than AB and other brands.
you need to consider the process itself and choose the PLC that best suits your activity. Allan bradley PLCs are more user friendly for example if you compare to Siemens but in case of robustness Siemens is superior.
They are many good branded plc now avaliable in our market like allen bradley, siemens, omron, mitsubishi, schnedider electric, Dleta,GE fanuc etc.but its selection is depends up on the process, industry type, i/o pins ,communication mode etc. Among plc's Delta plc is the cheapest one and for me allen bradley is the most user friendly one
Allen Bradley and Siemens are two faces of one coin, they both can perform the same tasks at high efficiency. AB PLCs are widely used in the US compared to Siemens's which can be found more in Europe.
I think before choosing any plc, it is very much required to know the requirements of the Apllication. Given the two brands of PLC Allen Bradley is very much user friendly at the same time siemens has its own advantages like it offers more programming techniques STL, FBD, LAD, SCL,etc.
The selection of PLC depends on number of factors:
1. The Tender Requirement/ Customer Requirement for particular make.
2.The redundancy required as per Tender (double redundant, Triple redundant etc)
3. The SIL certification required as per Tender document.
4. Commercial aspect
Allen Bradley is much better than Siemens because it has a lot more functions than Siemens.
Depends upon kind of Application And Equipments that need to be handled And Control.
The Big application Require Scan time is Low So better to look on scan time which suits your application.
Depend upon client & Process Requirement.
On selecting PLC, I think there will be various factors comes into light like I/o type(digital/analog),relay,cost,communication protocol.
but basically the question is about selection of brand... I would be optimistic on such cases
Many types of PLC are available in market. Logo, Micro, Modular. Normally in industrial use we use micro & Modular PLC. But in profibus networking we use modular PLC. In modular PLC we can use infinite number of input & outputs .
