like contacting a colleague or a client on WhatsApp, line, facebook...etc.
For me it's actually a little bit of both. In some ways if an employee is being inefficient and don't know the proper/limit of using social media then it is becoming a liability when it comes to work performance because they tend to engage more time on it rather than focus on the work itself. But if employees know how to utilize the use of it then it will be of better use to ease the communication process, say for example the emergence of IM's thru skype or whatsapp. Use of social app is inevitable nowadays since it's cheaper and time-effective when it comes to delivering your message but we can avoid excessive use if employees are oriented and know their aim in using those apps. Would also like to add that we must always communicate with clients or colleague in a professional manner - Email or a phone call is a much better approach in a corporate world.

Digital Communication is the need of hour and it is the way forward in every area of work.
As far as Social media, it is not the same case in which both Pros and Cons available and we need concentrated effort to remain positive
Social media is a definite distraction, especially for people who do not understand that personal social media platforms should not be checked while at work. It isn't the time or the place for that, and this should be strictly enforced. I worked at a company where everyone in my department was constantly logged on to Facebook and Twitter. As manager, I quickly enforced a "No Personal Social Media Access" rule. Once it was your time to begin work, no checking social media. And if your computer showed access of social media networks during the work hours, you would receive a warning. Employees were allowed up to 3 warnings before being fired from their job. I am very strict about this because if you're online checking your Facebook and Twitter feed, then that is time being taken away from work you should be doing. In respects to using social media for work purposes and utilizing it's many tools to benefit the overall company goal(s), then by all means use it. I just don't like people to be wasting time on personal stuff when the company needs them to be fulfilling their job duties and responsibilities. I am a firm believer in firewalls and blocks, web browser history cloud storage, and close tech monitoring. If you're on a work computer, respect work rules.
