Many times you are being asked to learn something new that maybe a software, a tool anything and Internet does not seems to be helping. There is not much support due to the classification of the product and you want to surf more except from the provided help.
As a company, it may be possible to cooperate with academic institutions (universities, research committees). It is a way to access the information needed as they can get resources like academic papers for you.For hard-skills such as software learning, it is uncommon to not find anything on the internet and it probably means the software in question is rarely used. In this case, the software designer or those responsible for the updates may provide help when contacted. For obsolete/unsupported software, looking for info on the company that bought out the intial developer (if it went through an acquisition/merger) can help find the relevant contacts. Such software is only useful in marginal cases though as better alternatives are often used and it hence may be worth the effort only with a precise task in mind.
