It's depend on the user :
1- If the user an expert with Revit , Then Revit will be the best program for SHD .
why :
A- You can get unlimited SHD sections every where needed .
B- You can make changes very fast ,while the same changes could take weeks with autocad .
c-You can get coordination drawing every where needed . (Every engineer at site know the importance of Coordination drawing and how much it save money and time . )
2-If the user intermediate with Revit . Then using Revit will not be accurate for SHD since detials is not accurate ,in this case Revit can be useful only for3D modeling and coordination , So Autocad will be better for SHD .
In my self experiance i found Revit much better than autocad , but i still using both autocad and revit.
Autocad and Revit are good Software's it depends on ones practice. After completing 3D modelling in Revit we can export to Dwg format and we can work on drawings. so by using Revit we get all 3D modelling, Drawings etc.
Depends on the complexity of the project and the expertise you/your team have. Revit definitely cuts down the time on modifications and gives you one fully integrated model easy to manipulate, given that your team is experienced in Revit. If the client is demanding and the project is complicated, you might consider offering your team Revit courses - it may still save time compared to AutoCAD.
2D AutoCad, 3D Revit.
Most firms make them on autoCad and import to a family on revit before placing them o the sheet
Autocad is best software/////////////////////////////////////////////
Revit easy for shop drawing
Revit has a greater number of tools and views to view shop drawings. Everything that can be done in AutoCAD can be done in revit with an extra advantage of linking it visually to the 3d BIM model.
In 2d Autocad is Good for Shop drawings when u come to revit it make u easy on 3d drawings
Currently autoCAD is the best, but in future revit will be better in shop drawing field
