Please share your opinion and experience on finding an alternate material for a non RoHS part. Specifically the material composition we select/decide.

lot of materials have replaced lead in glass industry (in crystals, radiation shielding glasses.. etc), for example barium is now used increasinly for the formentioned applecations. the spread of using liquid crystal displys also decrease the need for high content lead glasses in CRTs (cathod ray tubes).

lead use in radiation shielding polymer composites is also under review in many related companies.
