باختصار الاجابه : IBGP بنفس رقم autonomous اي شركه واحده
ebgp لاكثر من رقم autonomous اي بين اكثر من شركه
The basic difference i can think of is that E-BGP is used for bgp connectivity between routers in different Autonomous Systems(AS) whereas I-BGP is used for routers in the same AS.
The IBGP routes learnt from another IBGP peer is not advertised by that router to its IBGP peers whereas all the EBGP routes are advertised to all of its peers.
The Administrative distance of EBGP is20 whereas for IBGP its200 , so EBGP routes will be prefered over IBGP routes.
IBGP : is the connection of BGP routers within the same AS. its AD is200
EBGP : is the connection between Different AS BGP routers. its AD is20
I agree with above, but i can tell one more difference, that is when a bgp router sends Neighbor request to remote routers it send the Request with a TTL value of1.
But in IBGP, TTL value is not set to one.
Thats why if you have2 routers, running BGP, connected using redundant links, and you are trying to form neighbor ship using Loopback interface, the result will be NO NEIGHBORSHIP.
The main difference between iBGP and eBGP are:
iBGP:
->It works inside the same ASN(Autonomous System). It means it is an Interior Gateway Protocol(IGP)
->By default neighbor routers can be anywhere within the same ASN(Not a matter that many hops away.)
->Administrative Distance is200.It means Static,RIP,OSPF,EIGRP or most of the IGP protocol will be preffered than iBGP
-> iBGP has split horizon issues. To overcome this, either special command (route-reflector)needs to use or full mesh neighbor relationship recommended.
-> It is more useful when you have multiple upstreams connected into different routers in your ASN.
eBGP:
-> It works one ASN to another ASN.It means it is an Exterior Gateway Protocol(EGP) .
-> By default, neighbor routers should be directly connected.Otherwise, requires a special command (ebgp multihop)
-> Administrative Distance is20.It means within among all EGP protocols it is always preferred perhaps there is only one EGP now.
->eBGP doesn't have split horizon issue.
-> Basically, you don't need eBGP when you have only one exit point or only one upstream of your ASN.You can use a default route.
