This is a very tricky question and I have studied a lot on this. But I would like see views from experts on the field of KM across the globe.
Dear Mr. Niroshan , I appreciate that you had much detail on this topic, I haven’t read a lot but I would like to share my last organization experience and I had learnt a lot from them and I always states them as Knowledge Sharing Organization. Reason being, from1st day I had a feeling of systemize working with appreciation for those who are willing to go ahead from their current role. They keep their employee to have rotation based job irrespective of his age and experience. This made their employee as resource and knowledge based worker and we assign all seniors to develop their juniors and review their efforts in this. They keep on updating their systems and technology which require equal efforts from all to grab, learns, practice and share that knowledge.
Knowledge Management is treated like the poor cousin of many organisations across the globe even though if can increase an organisation's efficiency considerably. Such efficiency gains are made internally through a shared information pool and knowledge base, and externally through access to certain areas of your knowledge base with the aim to actively direct customers towards selfcare channes rather than referring them directly to your customer touchpoints for simple queries or problem solving.
I have published an interesting article about that gives a good overview about how Knowledge Management can be properly used and implemented internally and towards your customers. The article and the blog also come up with several bulletpoint lists covering the1-0-1 of what you should consider when revamping or implementing tools like a knowledge base. This will help laying a solid foundation for an improved and seamless Knowledge Management process within a modern organisation.
