As an FMCG sales supervisor, I have to always Lead my team and motivate them every day.
For us every day throws a new challenge and we have to not only accept but also overcome it successfully, else competition will outpace us.
I remember a time, when our company has increased the targets by a whopping 40%, which all team members felt is impossible to achieve, looking at the market conditions then. We tried speaking to the management but of no use. The team got disappointed. This was really the time where in we needed extra efforts to be put so that we realize greater sales volume. And of course, the wind is blowing against the way.
It took me several hours to think and Plan, I spoke to each one of the team members personally motivating them on how we could make things better so that we can reach the best possible outcome.
Not only, I have shown them what, where and how of reaching there but also, Lead by example through carefully targeted and planned market visits, Follow ups and Support.
Yes. We Won, We conquered the World!
Well honestly, it take time experience to learn when to step up with others.
Keep an eagle eye on your subordinates/employees/team mates, when you see they are feeling low, loosing there hope, and loosing them selves.
Stuck in an issue, no options left.
Looking for a mentor.
Then put your self there, build their moral, enthusiasm. It works best at that moment.
As a manager and admin, I keep an eye on them all the time and on their working, and wait for a moment when they provide a chance for me to accelarate them
Hope it make sense.
Thanks
As a leader and as for leader , every single moment should to do so , even they are out of work environment.
A couple of years back when i was still playing soccer or football, i was a sports minister & the assistant captain at that time. We were playing a very tense & competitive match and we were loosing; at half time in the dressing room, everyone had lost the guts, morale & interest in the match. I stood up & looked all around at everyone and started to say some things about the match. I told them a man isn't yet finished until he easily gives in, a defeat is a temporary condition; if one easily accepts it & gives in easily, this is when defeat becomes permanent; i told them that if the other team is leading, it means we also stand the same chance to lead; i told them that we should fight until the end & if we win, well & good but if we loose, that isn't the end of us. We would collect ourselves together, re-organise & put in the best performance. In second half, we fought our hearts out but unfortunately we lost the match. I was disappointed & helpless but eventually my team-mates came along this time conforting me. They accepted the result but they confessed to me that the half time message meant alot to them & that they would always remeber me & the motivating speech i gave. There are some others but this one is eniugh for today. thanx for the invitation
The team leader should lead the team at all the time but when business is not upto the mark he has to accelerate even more .
when team members self motivation level decreases, leader should motivate them by reminding their achievements, strengths & enjoy with their favourite activities.
