I agree with the previous answer but not completely. It is true that if the design of the website is compelling then only the audience will visit the website.
But, it is also true that if there is no content on the website, then it is almost impossible for the website to be in the top of search engine rankings. Without content, it is hard to get the website on the first page of the Google searches. Once the website is on the page One of the Google, the audience will click on it and then only they will see the website design.
Note: If anyone know the URL of the website, then Design plays an important role. But if someone do not know the URL, and want to reach via google search, then Content plays an important role.

Both are important. If you don't have good content, nobody will care about your site's design. On the other hand, if you have great content and horrible design it'll comprise the user experience and their access to your content. There has to be some sort of balance between the two elements.
Both of them are important, because if you do not have a contant with keywords and info for the consumers etc, search engines resaults will not include your site at the top resaults. Also if you do not have attractive photos, responsive design site, well viewed call to action buttons the customer will leave your site.

Both of them is important..each one of them complement the otherone..beside it depends on the user desire
as an example if u find the design is silly but the content is rich..you'll keep looking for the content and ignor the desing
The content is very important for the user beside the design for beeing clear, easy and noncomplicated
As designer the designging is your responsability which is you have to take care of BUT the Content is the owner responsability to keep loyal customers

Primary thing is layout(ie design)
if layout is need, good and adoptive then only the user will go for content..,
else he may go for other sites.
