What is the procedure to remove the empty layers in AutoCAD?

"Purge" command is used to removed empty layers in autocad

1. type purge

2. select view items you can purge  

3. select the layer that you want to Purge

4. click purge or purge all according requirement.

Use Purge Command To remove unused Layers

"Purge" command is used to removed unused or empty layers in autocad. The procedure is as mentioned below.

1. Click the Application button Drawing Utilities Purge.

   The Purge dialog box displays a tree view of object types, called named objects, with items that can be removed from the drawing.

• 1. To purge unreferenced layers, use one of the following methods:
  2. To purge all unreferenced layers, choose Layers.
• To purge specific layers, expand Layers, and choose the layers to be purged.

1. Click Purge.
2. Note: There will further two options as below  

• If the item you want to purge is not listed, click View Items You Cannot Purge, choose the layer, and read the explanation.
• If you do not want to confirm each purge action, clear the Confirm Each Item to Be Purged option. 

- The empty layers can be removed from the drawing by using the all objects residing at once place. 

- The references of the layers are also removed so that it appears to be empty and can easily be created. 

- If the layer is empty then the PURGE will not be able to remove the layers from the drawing.

- The layer can be made frozen on the viewport that is visible to the object and provide the definition of the object too. 

- The removing of the layer is possible due to the drawing that can be made using the EXPORT command and the result can be created in the DXF file.
