What sort of skills should I have in language domain to get a job as a translator?

All you need is to master two langauges to the bone then follow the next three rules..practice, practice, practice!

Gramatical rules + rich vocabulary + experience.

to be a good  translator is to practice listening and speaking, also to know the grammar tenses well. So speak more, listen more, know the grammar well and learn many expressions and idioms

Speak all languages
