How do I convince an employer that my skill set can be utilized in any field? I am trying to change my employment field and so far have had no luck.

Please specify some of the skill sets that you are talking about?  What you did and what you want to do?

It is hard question. You can try yourself in any field when you have 20-30 years. Most employers will give you the chance. If you gain some experience and you are expecting wage increase, changes in work field is harder. New employer will expect specialization and experience in related field. The best way to change your work field is adding new skills to existing core specialization (finish training course, go to college, learn new software, improve your landguage skills, etc.). It may take some time but this is the safer way (evolution not revolution in your professional career).
