What makes a person a good driver? Are there certain characteristics, behaviors, or personality traits that make a person a good driver?

as a bus driver since 2003 i think 

Sharpness - quick reactions and focus

Smoothness - smooth throttle on/off, braking and up/down-shifting

Calmness - scare them, how do they react?

Anticipation - there's body language in the way people drive, often you can tell what a driver that doesn't indicate is going to do next if you can judge body language.

Good sense of natural physics - speed, inertia, control

Sense of danger - there's potential hazards all over the road, you can test this even as a passenger.

All round awareness - know what's going on in front, behind, to your left and right, all your blind spots, anticipating hidden entrances, using reflections round bends (on cars, shop windows etc.), looking for feet under cars

Common sense. And initiative

Self-awareness - does the person recognise when less alert, e.g. tired, not fully awake and how it affects reaction time?
