Address Resolution Protocol or
Port density— Layer 3 switches are enhanced Layer 2 switches and, hence, have the same high port densities that Layer 2 switches have. Routers on the other hand typically have a much lower port density.
What type of switch? if it is layer 2 switch, it is require a router before the two devices on different VLANs can communicate with each other. Layer 2 switch cannot route between VLANs except with the help of router.
But if it is layer 3 switch, then the switch has router built in and it can route between VLANS without router.
Then enable inter-vlan routing.
Layer 2 Networks in Different VLANs won't communicate with each other. We need a Router (Layer III) for the VLANS to communicate with each other. The best recommended ways are to use a Router on a stick or using a Layer III Switch.
If they are belonged to different Vlan this means different network because every vlan is a different network so we need a router to communicate these two and define a trunk port through which different vlan data will be routed
without define Path it will not communicate with each other
Hi All,
I believe it's because there is no ip routing command defined in the main L3 switch or router that allows communication between those two vlans.
SWITCH PORT MODE IS NOT TRUNK .
