Hi, Anzar let me tell you that POP3 and SMTP both are languages used for communicating between emails  program and to server. Now lets we try to understand it one by one.

POP3: is Post Office Protocol . This is a comunation protocol is just used between the email program or a  POP client  and your ISP's mail or POP server and the3 is  nothing but the  version  of POP we are using today ;-).

SMTP: is Simple Mail Transfer Protocol SMTP is generally used to send messages from a mail client to a mail server.

Many Thanks. Muhammad Tahir

POP3 is the version3 of POP, which is a protocol used by email clients like outlook to download emails from server, using TCP/IP connection.

while SMTP is protocol used to send the mails using TCP/IP connection.
