first i believe you have to match the product with the area and make sure its good fit. second i would see what the demand is, the best way is direct interaction with customers and surveys. i would then depending on the area i would either push price or quality of the product and also give special promotions and free gifts with the product. everyone likes free and everyone like promotions. Also during these economic times price is key. Also knowing your competition is also key, by doing research and seeing where your product ranks among the rest.
