He / She should always show the interest by asking few questions about the company and the position. The interviewer will see how you came to the interview prepared and have an idea about the company.

You should definetly go asking questions. The interviewer most of the time is waiting for cadidates to ask questions. It is a good opportunity to find out the values of the company, vision, long term impact. From the answer you receive you may understand as well about the person in front of you but as well about the company.

If you don't have a single question to ask then either the interviewer is highly competent and has already answered everything you could ask, or you haven't done your homework.  It is unusual for a good candidate to have no questions.  In other words, if you are genuinely interested in the role, you will naturally have questions.

It is expected to have questions and asking a question about new developments or new products, shows you have done your homework about the new employer.

On the other hand, if you are very familiar with the employer AND he is familiar with you, no questions might also mean you have done your homework talking to the employees you know.

Hope it helps!

Be prepared .What information do you need to decide whether to work at this company? Assuming they haven’t already been answered in the earlier part of the interview” Make a list of at least 10 questions to take with you to the interview.

·         If you are interviewing with the hiring manager, ask questions about the job, the desired qualities and the challenges.

·         If you are interviewing with the human resources manager, ask about the company and the department.

·         If you are interviewing with management, ask about the industry and future projections. This is your chance to demonstrate your industry knowledge.

Make a two sided conversation/Interview and clear your queries to take better decision.

Yes, given an opportunity, one must ask question with respect to organisation and the position he is being interviewed. Interviewers ask questions intentionally to judge the knowledge and confidence level of the the candidates. By, not asking any question will give a feeler that, either you are afraid of asking a question or you are not prepared for the probable cross question from the interviewer.
