feedback is always taken from wide range of sources, of which is market research,customer feedback,marketing dept. recommendation ,sales dept. recommendation ,and data collected from industry as a whole.
then a blend of these factors are considered to launch and implement a successfull market strategy.
focus should be on suggestion by marketing department because sales team is usually trained for sales whereas marketing strategy ll define various prospects of product and its capacity. Afterall sale team's basic purpose is to sell and they can only sell if they know all attributes of product/service.

interesting question. I think sales and marketing departments rely on each other more than they care to admit. The marketing department could roll out a very fancy strategy, but if the sales department doesn't understand it, or implements it wrong, it will fail. Same goes the other way around. If the sales department provides vital input that the marketing department is ignoring, then the strategy will fail. for the strategy to succeed, harmony and cooperation must exist between these two departments
You should listin to all departments not only sales department.. Every department has a different point of view and every idea may work
