You must learn Algorithm basics and after that you can apply it on any programming language.
I Prefer C , C++ for a good Start and C#
welcome Lina i would like your question , so if you want speed entering of programming without wasting time you can learn c Language for small time then after that you can choose any language you want and the right choose is JAVA Language because it is best under any operating system and any platform or interface.
Why in the first place did you go for Computer Science? You don't need programming background to attend Computer Science... You're being taught there from the ground, they don't expect you to know rocket science...
.I agree with Mr Mohsen khaldoun´s answer
assembly language-low level language
high level languages like C and C++
There have been many debates"the best of thoes"language if you're a newbie? each of the incredible programming languages written by famous and powerful sof tware fa preference is never to languagensure.in other word's adobe photoshop program written in a language C++,this is not meant as a language C++ programming language better,but the reAl meaning is that the adobe engineers qualified enineers. fA preference based on the capabilities of the programmer is not built on the programming language.
something is related to Your needs ...(future target):
Many educational programming languages position themselves inside a learning path, that is, a sequence of languages each designed to build on the others moving a student from easy to understand and entertaining environments to full professional environments. Some of the better known are presented below.

For the starter, just focus on C/C++, C++ preferable. Clear your concepts and get expertises in it then every language will be piece of cake for you
