1. VFD can vary the speed of the motor and thereby cannot be replaced by any other soft starter.
2. Any other soft starter does not save as much of power as the VFD does as it continuously changes the V/f ratio.
3. The starting current of the motor connected to a VFD is quite less compared to the starting current of a motor connected to any other soft starter.
4. You can have a in-built braking mechanism in a VFD which we do not find generally in any other soft starter.
5. We have a in-built feedback system for the motor encoder which gives us the speed feedback of the motor and i think this feature is also not available in any other soft starters.
