When a person has some knowledge of product / services will tend to ask less questions when compared to people with no knowledge. But this does not mean it will be easier or difficult to sell to either party.
But the main factor for all brands / services be it customers with knowledge or not when it comes to personal use especially there will always be more questions.
So the answer it is you can not say it is easier to sell products / services to one group over the other it depends on various factors. I think it all depends on your marketing strategy understanding your consumer new / old. Furthermore understanding their demographics, culture, other product usage, are very important when trying to convince any customer to purchase your products.
Selling a product doesn’t have to be complicated. At its most basic level, a sales program is defined principally by what you sell, who you sell it to and how you sell it. Beyond that, sales involves staying focused on the details of your product and customers. As a sales program continues you will want to keep paying attention to changing trends and the needs or desires of your customers. By observing these changes you will be able to adjust your program and keep your sales strong
It really depends on the type of product that you are selling. If your potential customer already has an idea about the product/service that you are selling that means they have already formulated an opinion regarding their need/want for this product. Now this opinion could either be positive or negative. In the case the opinion was a negative one, then you'll have a tough time convincing this customer that they in fact can make use of this product/service. If they had no idea of the product/service, it would be relatively easier to convince them to purchase it because you will have full control on how their opinion is formulated. On the other hand, if they have a positive idea regarding the product/service that means the chance that they will purchase it is much higher than a customer who has no previous knowledge regarding what you're selling.
I believe the question is not about how easy or how hard to sell which sort of product. It is about convincing the client about how valuable this product is to him and if/whether he already knows the product it's about how to make him proceed and continue consuming it by offering him new and uniqe services and experiences. Each kind of clients (targeted audience) should be dealt with different kind of marketing method.
I have personally experienced that selling product or services to a person, who knows about product and services is bit easier.
Selling to any ignorant person is a little bit tougher job.
Below mentioned reasons can be pointed out in the ease of business with a person who knows about the product & services
1:- It’s easy to pitch in front of that person. It is easy to take appointments and plan a meeting.
2:- It saves time, cost.
3:- It also saves extra effort of briefing about the product and services.
4:- Customer need can be identified easily within few minutes of discussions and sales pitch can be moulded accordingly.
Note:- But for above advantages one has to know his/her product /services in detail, along with advantages, disadvantages etc…
