I have been using NLP techniques for a long time. I have seen that it is referred to as a pseudoscience and all other disreputable names. To me it is an effective teaching toolkit.
Let me say this, the way NLP is rated, as you mentioned, does not mean that it is false or bad, but education is a long stream from KG to Higher Education and further. You know that there are so many steps to go through and there are certain agreed - upon standard of methods of education. Using NLP will seem like going through Intensive professional Diploma Courses in a short period (Computer education, PMP, Statistics, etc.),rather than following the long period of obtaining a Bachelor degree which requires certain subsidiary subjects which students should study. I don’t say NLP is poor or week, but it’s a matter of Procedures and teaching methodologies that does not put it on the ladder of assessing regular educational methods.
Well, I would say, in my personal opinion, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) seems to work more in theory, but practically, it depends on many factors:
- Who undergoes this method ( gender, age, class,etc.).
- We risk to deviate behavior of thinking of students: Can we practically talk about replacing negative behaviors with positive ones?
- How Students perceive results of the application of NLP?
- NLP may seem practical for some at certain age or school class, but how far we can rely on it as a methodology leading to a career in life?
Finally, I can say that NLP may support any education stream, but not to be used as a separate methodology of teaching.
