Why not! , unless this relation does not affect on work process and evaluation, managers have to create a solid relationship with their employees

Its unethical that employee aspire close relationship with the manager in favor to his / her purpose. This actually discourage to any business or government entity to avoid abuse of power or position of the manager.

Hell no, if you can ask favors to your manager, then definitely he can ask favors from you. Its always a two way road.

Its normal behavior and its tolerated in almost all work places. It’s commonly called brown nosing or A** kissing.

Some people like it, others don’t. I don’t like it.

To befriend anyone for the purpose of getting favour or away of anything at the end is not a friendship at all but abuse.

We don't give favor to a friend but we give support. My boss is my very good friend as to my staffs are my very good friends as well.

Policies and rules always apply.  We support them by encouraging them to follow policies/rules/procedures vividly so that at the end we can provide the needed defense/support whenever necessary.

No. Its totally unethical. This is one of the biggest challanges managers are facing today- impunity has its implications & costs attached to it. It is dangerous & unhealthy for the company & working environment Thanx for the invitation

For a discuss it looks not professional but in reality that is what is happening. Earlier there was a merit in BLUE-EYED. These days that is diluted.

One can become blue-eyed for any reason also, other than the merit on performance. One can gain favour without any question starting from half an hour permission to so many rest through this route.
