Prime Power generator is used for extended time where there is no source of electricity such as mining, oil and gas operation. where as standby power generator is used for emergency / secondary purpose. unfortunately if there is power failure some system must run within certain period of time (for example tank agitators). when there is power failure standby power generator will start Automatically.

Standby power generators are the most commonly rated generator sets. Their primary application is to supply emergency power for a limited duration during a power outage. It is important to note that standby rated generators, under no circumstances, should run in conjunction with a public utility source.

Prime power rated generators are used in applications where the user does not purchase power from a public utility.
