What is the difference between function and formulas in excel?

There are lots of functions in Excel, together they make formula.

Example: IF is a function but if you added SUM inside that IF. All together becomes a formula.

formula consist of one or more function

function: Max() this function will return the maximum number i a range.

formula: Max()*3 this formula will find the max and times by 3
