It's hard to create a time in our busy schedule...,we can't keep on looking up for the open source websites like Github.

One easiest way is joining the groups on Facebook ,Linkedin ,twitter or any other.In that website ,Some or the other specialist will be posting the news along with the Beta version and Whitepapers..

Its hard to keep up with everything that changes in technology. The best practice what i believe is to understand the current and future needs and according to that focus on the companies, R&D Labs and whitepapers and of course social media like Facebook, YouTube. These will help you keep up to date with the technology. 

By following the official websites of the domains you care about.

In my opinion any IT professional should always read articles and public releases, at least one time per week.  If he noticed any new technology that he may need, or interested in, he should investigate about it more, and train himself to get familiar with it. He should attend IT conferences if available, and training classes to obtain certificates.
