Thanks for invitation. This is one of the important questions mostly asked in the interview. So, let us prepare for the answer and subsequent questions from interviewers (competency based interviewing)
1. Select the procurement project in which you acted as strategic planner, motivator, and team leader. Mention first necessity of your selected the project and how was the output
2. Interviewer may ask "what were the challenges? Please reply the question with your planning, organizing, analyzing and leadership skills that was necessary to overcome the challenges
3. Interviews may ask about the cost and cost control approaches. Answer the question how you calculated cost estimate and what were the control measures.
4. Lastly the Interviewers may ask ”Would you apply the same approaches in similar cases in future?" You may answer as "Future cases may have different complexity but you would always analyze, plan, organize, estimate cost and would proceed with support from your team members
Thanks for inviting me to answer this question. Some of the key achievements are highlighted as follows:
1. Managed brand new purchasing department for a construction company at start-up of business operations. I must say thia was a great learning ground for me.
2. Coordinated the order and delivery of materials for the following projects with no loss of materials or assets:
- Construction Barge Towage, Anchor Handling and Standby Duties on Escravos Oilfield
End Client: Chevron, Nigeria
- Wet Tow from Ghana to Cote D’Ivoire
End Client: Posco Logistics, South Korea
- Provision of Mother Security Vessel and Accommodation
End Client: Petroleum Geo-Services, Nigeria
For me, I would say the biggest achievements have been more in the International purchasing Arena, where I have been able to identify supply sources and ticking all the right boxes. I have been able to travel to far away places stitching up good supply deals and above all negotiating win/win deals. In that regard, I have managed to conjure-up good margins for our sales team with sustainable offerings.
I believe the question should pertain to achievements in generic terms. I n this background, I do not see any need to add further to very eloquent and generic reply given by Md. Fazlur Rahman.
