Thanks for invitation.

You need to act not react. Please make a note on piece of paper  what are your achievements and how your achievements have contributed to the company profit, image and logistical excellence. Then talk to you manager with your points.

The manager may also has imitations based on economic conditions, market conditions and other variables. If you can not cut a deal with your manager, please look for job and after having an offer in hand, you may quit the job.

Thanks for the Invitation:

I really feel already there are many good answers here. I would like to share my views too.

I think is an very good question and almost every one in there career feels the same.

At any stage of your work career when you got this feeling that I should deserve more in an salary and the manager is not giving, I would suggest that he/she should get the information from the market point of view for his/her position what the salary do companies provides in the market.

Secondly he/she should apply outside for that position and checks if he/she is getting any job offers from outside. If really he/she is good enough to get job offers letter than she can give a second thought on leaving the job.

In my view as per current situation no one should never ever leaves their job unless and until they get good offer and that too from good  reputed companies.

When the horse is running everyone puts bet on it. Its the same way till when we are doing our work or job every one gives us suggestions to quit the job and search for another one. but as soon as we quit the job we will be alone in this world who will be facing all the problems.

So I never say to anyone to quit their Job unless they got OFFER LETTER from good reputed Companies, and this way helps one to whether he/she should really ask the manger for hike in the salary which he/she feel that they really deserve it.

Hope you will appreciate my answer.

A salary raise depends on a lot more paradigms than just our wanting an increment. In usual circumstances, everyone of us think that we deserve a raise on any given day. However, the company and our manager may not think so. An increment depends on the performance of an employee vs. given deliverables, performance of the company, option of advancement, performance of the department and several such factors. If an employee believes that he/ she genuinely deserves a raise and is still being denied the same, it would be a good time to get your CV circulating!

Working Only for Salary may lead you to follow any better financial offers, working for achievements and personal significance make you passionate and more creative.

Regarding your Question:

if you are working in professional environment the company should has it own grading system where all positions related to grades and each grade has range (Minimum - Average - Maximum) and increment are based on the range and with percentages related to performance management system.

if your organization has good environment for you and you are contributing in some of the achievements and mentally and physically amazed so quitting your job is not a easy decision and may not a good step. But if you have not having any from the mentioned above you can quit directly without asking.

If you are looking for just better financial earnings and no way to get raise in your company, you may leave directly.

Only you, you can decide what’s better to your career.

You can’t always get what you want (a song by the Rolling Stones, let it bleed album) is a good motto to live by.

Everyone think they deserve more for what they do at work, but without written contract that specifies the terms of payments, or without a company procedure that outlines the raise in salary, it’s no use to beg,  moan or cry  for one, because it won’t happen.

If you are unhappy with what you got, then yes defiantly find a new job with less work and more money.

Salary increment is based on positive sound performance in your job. If you think you deserve for it , it is right for you to have it yet  it is not necessary to ask the managers if the company has proper procedure and guidelines for compensation, benefits, increment, etc. unless you are the key point of the company you have opportunity to demand  directly an increment. However if your demand weren't  granted because of some consideration of business status you have to give them a chance to review everything. Do not quit at once yet express your intention that you need it  don't feel bossy and wait...If you saw and  felt that the managers is unmindful with your demand then start searching another opportunity as your alternative company to work but make sure before you quit  the next company will surely accept you.

Quitting job is not a solution and in most of the cases manager can’t be wrong.

It’s all about assessment, assessment by self and assessment by manager. Might be your assessment is not in sync with manager assessment and that’s why he is manager.

If you yourself is enough confident with your assessment and deserves, you must ask the reasons to your manager for refusing salary hike.

Might be the company strategy for not giving hikes to any of the employees and sometime happens that you might be getting highest salary slab in your position that’s why now salary hikes further until your position gets change to next level.

If still you are not convinced, there are two ways to prove yourself and get salary hike…

1.       Search for a job outside of your company in better perspective and salary you expect.

2.       Once you have appointment letter in hand, start negotiation with your manager and HR as well

3.       If organization really needs you and happy with your performance, they will not lose you and the only way for him to retain you is that salary hike any ways. And in that case they give salary better than the salary has been offered by another company. In more than 90% cases it works. I have been opted the same many times.

4.       The other way, simply switch over to the company you get better salary offer.

You are the one and only knows your employment situation. So take decision with patience. It means that prepare a checklist and scaleup yourself what would be the awaited & future benefits if you currently tolerate and accept to go with that. Also think about your knowledge, learning & career growth.

Or else take the decision to quit the job when you are having real demand in the market. Try to get the new offer first and think about the current job to quit.
