Public Relations are a field that looks to create positive relations between a business and its clients.
Many job opportunities exist in the field of PR including: gathering facts and data to keep track of public concerns and current trends affecting consumers, creating promotional events to gain awareness and support of a specific products or client, and collecting data for press releases that will promote an awareness • Imagination, for coping with present problems and anticipating future ones; • Communication skills, with demonstrable competence in writing; • Personal confidence, for successful face-to-face contacts with individuals and groups; • Sensitivity to other people (simply to "like People" will not help a candidate get a job); both diplomacy and a more-than-ordinary ability to place oneself in the shoes of another are important in public relations work; • Organizing and planning ability, applied to oneself and others; as with many other occupations, managerial skills are invaluable for successfully climbing the public relations ladder.

The are key essentials any PR practionier should have.
I hope the following will be of efficient for your purpose.1.
Know your audience - The PR Practitioner MUST know their audience to know what information to disseminate or provide to the right target market media to talk to.
If you do not know your audience, you wouldn't know what information to provide or what information to provide.2.
Know the media - The Practitioner need to know the media and build robust contacts that with one phone call she can send content out that will be picked up by anyone without even doubting the source.
This also goes with credibility.
The more credible your information in the past is and have become, the easier your media network will also pick up your contents or info.
Knowing your media is also important to know what the media type target market is and their reach.3.
Confidence NOT Corky - having information is always powerful but at the same time not in a way that the media have to beg you to be part of your network.
Be confident in a way that, if you make a call, your voice holds credibility, holds trust and appreciation while at the same time composed.4.
Think outside your organization - Be objective.
Sometimes, you have to be the voice of your audience with management.
What stories will fly and what won’t? Many companies need someone to do this, to tell them how the public would react to their actions and force them to reconsider their decisions.
A good company also listens to what their PR team and public is saying about their brand and marketing campaigns.5.
Understand objectives - This is a simple one: We don’t do PR to generate clips or website hits or blog posts or links or viral action.
We don’t even do it to raise ‘awareness’ or generate ‘word of mouth’.
We do it to increase sales, maintain and build customer loyalty, muster support, gain votes or influence public opinion.
We do it to change behavior.
While all of the traditional PR measures may well influence behavior, they are not an end in and of themselves.
This is why the Skittles experiment is, in my view, doomed to fail.
There is no clear benefit beyond generating marketing buzz, which benefits marketers and agencies far more that it drives sales and brand loyalty.6.
WRITE - BE A DAMN GOOD WRITER!!! - I cannot say or over emphasize this loud and clear enough.
A good writer always know how to make some of the most simplest stories great and create a buzz.
Grammar , structure of your contents, terminology (DO NOT BOMBARD the public with big words or words that means nothing in their field or something totally different) use words and grammar that even a10 year old can understand when their pick up the story or statement.
Write on ACTIVE tense not PASSIVE.
Storytelling is essential to communications.
Nothing has replaced good writing.
Not160 character limits.
Not video.
Not the web.
It all starts with good writing.
But it doesn’t end there.7.
A GOOD RESEARCHER - Always research and synthesize.
The ability to gather and synthesize information is vital to just about everything we do — from understanding the audience and market environment to getting background on reporters or bloggers before an interview.
The ability to help your organization better understand their environment — and connect that understanding to their ability to achieve objectives — is vital.
In a nutshell, summarize all the above as follows:1.
Communications Skills2.
International mindsets3.
Creativity4.
Writing Skills5.
Research Skills Above all, APPEARANCE, APPEARANCE, APPEARANCE!!! Always look good, fresh and sensible! Hope this helps.
If you would like any help or to explain further on any of the above, please feel free to email me - Hope it helped!
