What makes an employee unhappy in your opinion?

Employees are not donkeys who can be motivated with carrots and sticks. They are brilliant humans, you have invited to push your mission forward. They have talents, you haven't seen yet and won't see until you give them room to bring their talents to work. Culture-building is trust-building, and it takes personal reflection and personal investment from every leader to make it happen.

"Keep your nose clean, stay in line, hit your goals and everything will be fine!" you've got a fear-based culture.

The main reason may be losing someone dear

  • He misses an important opportunity
  • Personal Issues
  • Problems at work
  • Tensions with colleagues

As you mentioned employee not motivating by a carrot, so S-he can not be happy when:

  • You do not give him - her their rights.
  • You do not motivate them whether by money or morally.
  • You will not admit by their efforts.
  • you hire someone without skills with same salary which your skilled employees get it.
  • You do not train them.
  • You do not care of them, and do not listen to them.

As a responsible manager of the team, if something unusual happening with a worker wherein his contributions, punctuality, self esteem, Attitude are not same as earlier. Then it's time to sit with him in a closed room to find out the issues and fix it. Matter could be of various reasons - may be he has personal Problems, financial Problems, physically or mentally stressed, or tired of routine job, or over qualified, or under salaried, or expecting a promotion since years etc. Give him a good counseling and find solutions for the best interest of both the Company as well as the individual.

Many things. Poor service, poor product and or issues that are unrelated (personal issues) .

 

In most cases if you take the time to listen and understand your customer and make an effort to assist them with genuine care - you usually can get the result you wanted.

So many matters,(1) at work- not satisfied on their salary and designations specially hired overseas, late salary issuance and work Management. (2)Personal, Homesickness, no family and friends on their side specially when its off time.

What makes an unhappy employee unhappy... google for the answer as since the Persians, Egyptians  and Romans they studied this subject.
