What is the strongest advertising message you've seen? And why? What was the product? And was the message downplaying the competitor directly or not?

For me it was an ad for Pepsi in a Latino TV channel , a kid goes to beverage machine spent2 coins to get2 Coca Cola cans, then put them on the ground & stand up over them to reach the button of Pepsi then he takes Pepsi & leave Coca Cola on the ground

There were quite a few ranging from Lurpak Butter to modern day ads made from tech companies and retailers that can create memorable Ads that people still speak about after many years. Like the Ads created by Nike with the "Just do it" slogan that drove their revenue from $800 million to $9.2 billion. Or the Marlboro Ads that sparked a keen interest in not only their brand but the whole wild west life style. Or Volkswagen that inspired the compact cars and made people fall in love with the brand. There are many more memorable Ads in the past that you can watch on popular video sites like YouTube

Thanks for the A2A.

2 of the most memorable advertising campaigns that I can recall are the Got Milk campaign and the Old Spice commercials. They were innovative, creative and led to tangible results for the respective brands without targeting competitors. Details as below

1) California Milk Processor board came out with a series of print/TVC ads that had the tagline "Got Milk?" accompanied by an eye-catching image of a celebrity with a milk mustache.  The campaign led to milk sales in just California going up by more than 5% in 1 year.

2) Old Spice hit the market with campaigns featuring the "Old Spice Guy" from 2010 onwards which when first launched generated a huge buzz for the brand. The original commercial has more than 50 million views on youtube and led to a huge spike in Facebook and Twitter follower numbers.

I have not yet found any consistent & appealing adverts other than that of Coca Cola, they are really good at adverts. On the other hand, looking at the example Mr. Mohamed Eissa has cited, that "Latino Pepsi advert" is a subject that invokes suing in the courts of law. It's intimidating, Unprofessional, unethical & illegal to directly downplay your competitors' products, you can't for sure use a container, packaging, branding or real product of a competitor in your own advert while downplaying it. This is totally unacceptable & unhealthy for the industry; in fact in some regions, this issue would be already before the courts of law & the ones who made the advert would inventually pay highly for directly downplaying & spoiling the others reputation. Thanx for the invitation.
