Absorption refers to a process in which molecules of a substance penetrate into the bulk of a solid, or liquid materials to form solutions or compounds. In simple language, it depicts the penetration of one substance into another in a complete manner. The molecules or atoms of a substance gets totally penetrated into the volume of the other molecules. It is sucked that much that it literally becomes a part of the other substance. It can either be a chemical reaction or a physical process. Generally, absorptions occur by the process of diffusion.
Chemical Reaction – carbon dioxide absorbed by a solution of potassium carbon
Physical Process – Air absorbed in water by dissolving
On the other hand, adsorption deals with only the adhesion on the surface. It is referred to a process by which the molecules of a gas or liquid solute stick only at the surface a solid or a liquid (adsorbent). It results into higher concentration of adsorbate molecules on the surface. Unlike, absorption, they are not totally consumed by the other substance. It can be simply referred as the process by which molecules collect at the surface of the substance
adsorption is a phenomene that happens on the surface of a solide material, an interaction between an adsorbable molecule and the surface of a solide.
absorption is the imbition of a solide by a fluid or liquid
Absorption is the imbibition of a fluid or liquid by a substance which can also be a liquid or solid while adsorption is the adherence of a substance e.g molecules, ions, atoms, nucleotides, to the surface of a material.
Absorption is the process in which a fluid is dissolved by a liquid or a solid (absorbent). Adsorption is the process in which atoms, ions or molecules from a substance (it could be gas, liquid or dissolved solid) adhere to a surface of the adsorbent. Adsorption is a surface-based process where a film of adsorbate is created on the surface while absorption involves the entire volume of the absorbing substance.
absorption is a process in which one fluid is dissolved by other liquid r solid. Adsorption is a process when a molicule is from a substance is adhered to the surface of adsorbant
The Difference between adsorption and absorption that means is opposite each other. The absorption is soaking up of a liquid while adsorption is not penetrated into the bulk for example for Reverse Osmosis Plant the absorption is regenerate water or production water called potable water (ionic water) while the adsorption a reject water does not passes through at the membrane filter due to molecules sizes of liquids or solids
Adsorption is when a chemical is attached onto an adsorbant -another chemical- but only onto the surface.
Absorption is when the chemical attaches on to the absorpant -the other chemical- and goes into the inner layers.
Adsorption is when a chemical is attached onto an adsorbant -another chemical- but only onto the surface.
Absorption is when the chemical attaches on to the absorpant -the other chemical- and goes into the inner layers.
Adsorption express gases dissolving in solid or liquid
Absorption express liquid dissolving in solid or liquid
Adsorption is a surface phenomenon, whereas absorption is a physical or chemical phenomenon where the molecules enter a phase (bulk phase).
Example of adsorption is activated charcoal adsorbing gases, and example of absorption is HPLC or any other chromatographic technique
Absorbtion is the mass phenomenon whereas adsorbtion is a surface phenomenon
