The best way to handle the supplier is to provide your company extra time allowance suited for this kind of supplier. It doesn't seem right to rely a delinquent supplier for important projects requiring up to date and timely delivery.

Sometimes, it is not so much about competitive prices since most clients are willing to pay the extra cost for a fast and efficient service. The delay will cost more than the extra cost required for expedited shipments. So there we go, it's either we adjust with these kinds of suppliers according to our time frame or opt for a better solution. There are always other suppliers ready to meet our needs. The world is a world of competition, remember that.

Increase communication and management of the supplier. Get personally involved to understand the root cause why they don't achieve milestones. Understand and treat the cause, not the symptom.

The best way to handle a supplier who doesn't meet deadlines, immediately start looking for another supplier and develop him to meet the requirements.

In today's world, competitive prices do play an important part, but it is not everything. Customers while being selective demand efficient service and are ready to pay the extra price for quality and efficient service delivered consisitently.

In fact Customers will remain loyal if their needs are met on TIME rather than lower prices with uncertain deliveries.

Further  costs of expediting delayed deliveries is much higher than the competitive advantage provided by the Supplier.

Suppliers should realize that companies /customers only if Quality is delivered as per committments made.

Follow up is the first and best thing required. Also make him aware that due to his negligence he is loosing orders from you by providing him some large quantity immediate requirement.

But always keep more suppliers to fulfill the emergency situations. Sometimes the requirement may have more value than the increased price of that particluar items for some specific projects.

You give him a nice little contract which specifies large penalties for being late ;) Also, allow a few days leeway when planning deliveries (cuz you know he will most likely be late).

It depends on the supply chain model adopted by the company, for example, if the company prioritizes responsiveness istead of cost, they would be better off finding a new supplier, if they prioritise costs, they might as well stick with their supplier. But nevertheless, the company can do several things to insure that their production is not disturbed, they can either order bigger quantities in advance to insure that their production is not disturbed, or they can rely on multiple suppliers in case of shortage from one supplier.

If you compare prices between 3 top suppliers, it's of not much difference. Lead time is very important in projects, so we must push the suppliers for on time delivery. If I hav eto choose I will go with the supplier who meet deadlines. in this case we can push the lowest bidder to narrow the ldelivery period. If the lead time gap is too long, better to go with 2nd lowest with better delivery time.Afterall you can not hold a project for long time. Time is the most valuable money for a contarctor. On time completion is the priority.

C’est de lui mettre en face de la concurrence afin de lui faire voir la nécessité de ne pas perdre le marché

Pricewise is not the only main criteria that defines the best agreement concluded with a supplier. While negotiating the right deal with our supplier, we have to take into consideration other major factors such as goods quality, delivery time and payment terms. In this case, we have to reconsider negotiating our agreement with our said supplier trying to make him understand once for all, our vision and objectives and try our utmost to make sure that our objective will be aligned for our mutual benefit. In all cases, we should have plans B and C etc for sourcing from alternative but reliable suppliers to avoid shortage.

The best way to handle this kind of supplier is to have a lead time on that particular delays. Suppliers that we known and their history will help us prepare this kind of situation by ordering in advance and considering the delays the may happen. It is important for us to learn and know our suppliers to help us prepare the necessary actions and plans in dealing with them.

First looking for at least two suppliers of the same range to ensure delivery of the customer on time in case of delay Require this supplier to sign a contract of compliance with deadlines with penalty clauses that covers the price difference from the competition
